Description:

Please join me at Studio Feruvius for Westville's Artwalk 2017. Over the past several years photographing has come to the forefront of my creative practice and I am excited to share a selection of images with you that focus on my experiences about town here in New Haven. People are history. Buildings are history. Street corners and dance floors are all a cumulative history. With the photograph one can feel a relationship to histories that might otherwise be swallowed by a shallow presence or the inability to absorb it all at once. By referencing a photograph one gets to experience time frozen - and from that vantage point experience an unending learning from a single moment.

"Stare. It is the way to educate the eye, and more. Stare, pry, listen, eavesdrop. Die knowing something. You are not here long." –Walker Evans

It is these words that propelled me into a deeper consideration of every surrounding. Through photography I am discovering the individuals opportunity to create legacy, and to use the photograph as a way to empower with legacy the experiences and relationships that, as an artist, strike me as being worthy of recollection.
