Description:

Join master printer Tom Edwards for this two-part printmaking workshop exploring copper etching. Participants will create original copper etchings, and see and learn how to use a real etching press.

Day 1: Sunday, February 3rd, 1pm-3pm: Participants will prepare a copper plate for etching, by drawing with an etching needle on a prepared surface. Participants are encouraged to arrive with an idea of what they would like to draw, and welcome to bring sketches, or photographs for reference.

Day 2: Sunday, March 3rd, 1pm-4pm: Plates will then be etched off-site, and the second session will be about printing your plates on a real etching press. Participants will learn how to properly ink, wipe and clean plates.

No printmaking skills are necessary, but basic drawing skills are assumed. Materials are provided.
