Mardi Gras is a fun, festive celebration of New Haven — an evening full of delicious food and drink, live music and entertainment, and a Mardi Gras parade — all to support the incredible work of a community treasure: your public library. Mardi Gras returns to Mitchell Library in the heart of Westville Village on March 5, 2019! New this year, we'll be celebrating the Freedom to Read with food, drink, and entertainment highlighting banned and challenged books. We invite you to draw inspiration from this theme for your Mardi Gras costume or mask! WHAT TO EXPECT AT MARDI GRAS:

  • revel with local glitterati and bibliophiles who love the public library
  • tastings from some of the area’s most popular restaurants
  • signature cocktails from local bars and mixologists
  • a silent auction featuring exclusive and one-of-a-kind experiences
  • Mardi Gras parade featuring members of our creative community
  • dancing the night away to the sounds of the Funky Dawgz Brass Band
  • a photo-booth to capture the spirit of the evening
