Dru Nadler has worked as a photographer for over 25 years and has received regional and national awards as a photographer with The Greenwich Time, The Advocate ( Stamford, Conn.) and The Connecticut Law Tribune. Her most recent project, which will be the subject of the PAC Meeting on September 1, is shot with her IPhone which has freed to her to be creative in ways that she could have never imagined. The challenge has been, however, to establish strict boundaries for herself on how she will shoot and edit her work.
Dru received a 35mm camera as a gift when she graduated from high school; and never wanted to put it down. She decided to pursue her passion and study art photography at the School of Visual Arts in NYC. Eventually, she started working at a small newspaper as a photojournalist. After a time, she moved on to a daily paper, where each day brought new challenges artistically and professionally. After her daughter was born, she started photographing weddings and found that she was able to combine her love of art photography and photojournalism. Her work is all about capturing the emotion, the candid moments and creating beautifully composed portraits.
