BANNED! Madame Thalia at the Institute Library
On Sunday, October 27th, at 6 p.m., the Institute Library will be the site of scandal, surreptitious sipping, and song, as we are joined by the esteemed Madame Thalia for a private performance.
Details below:
The Gallery Upstairs at the Institute Library presents:
An evening of banned-book burlesque theater with Madame Thalia!
DATE: Sunday, October 27, 2024
21 and older only, please.
Tickets are $20 each and limited.
Our Biography Room becomes a unique speakeasy for the night, complete with bathtub gin cocktails. Come dressed in your finest vintage finery and creatively celebrate freedom of speech with us.
This adult-only event is also a tip-jar fundraiser for the Gallery, so please consider bringing some extra moolah to throw in the kitty. We are dough-raising to be able to fund more artists and more talent and to say yes to new events going forward….
Since before the Civil War, the library has been a source of knowledge, learning and discussion - a heritage we are proud of and celebrate. This is especially important in times where some would curb our access to ideas. The Gallery Upstairs at the Institute Library has a response to this, which is: throw a party and draw awareness to the increased banning of books in the USA.
Guests should remember: the Library is not ADA compliant (one must be able to climb stairs to get here), and that due to local construction, parking can be difficult. We apologize for any inconvenience. Please email Eva@InstituteLibrary with any questions you may have; information on parking can be found here: https://parknewhaven.com/find-parking/
