Helping Honey Bees Survive!
Do you want to know more about how bees help in our overall food culture and how you can help them thrive?
This workshop, presented by Bill Hesbach, Master Beekeeper, will cover the origin of honey bees in North America and how they serve as a vital part of our food-chain and ecology. We will also cover some of the threats to honey bees and how each of us can help provide some forage and habitat for their survival.
Bill Hesbach is a Connecticut native with a background in engineering.
His interest in beekeeping began in 1975, and after a career hiatus, he began to build a sideline bee business in Cheshire, CT where he now produces a crop of artisanal raw honey sold locally, along with other hive products.
Bill teaches bee biology and basic beekeeping at meetings hosted by both the Backyard Beekeeping Association and the Conn Beekeepers Association and is a regular guest speaker at local beekeeping seminars in surrounding states.
His interests in beekeeping include queen bee production, and the connection between local flora and bee behavior.
He’s an Eastern Apiculture Society Certified Master Beekeeper and a graduate of the University of Montana's master beekeeping program.
Bill is a published author and his articles on beekeeping can be found in both Bee Culture and BeeKeeping Magazine.
