The Da Silva Gallery in Westville is proud to present the works of artist Angeles Martinez. Born and raised in San Jose, Uruguay, Martinez is the first artist in residence to come to New Haven to paint local scenes as well as works from New York City. The series will be called “New Haven/New York Through Foreign Eyes” and will feature an international roster of artists who will live in the New Haven area for a month while creating new works of art that capture the essence of the city. An established artist in her native Uruguay, Martinez captures in oil the charm of coastal towns and the energy of big cities of this South American country with the provincial charm and feel of Europe. Now focusing her artistic lens on New Haven, Martinez has captured the beauty of the High Street Bridge at Yale, the Grand Avenue Bridge and Stony Creek as just a part of her first impressions of the area.
